While we are still sad to have lost her as a colleague, we are delighted to share that Jodi Feldman, former Managing Attorney for Legal Operations at Legal Aid, will serve as the inaugural Pro Bono Program Manager at the District of Columbia Courts. In her new role, Jodi’s mission will be to enhance efforts to provide access to justice for litigants who cannot afford legal representation by increasing pro bono representation in the Court of Appeals and the Superior Court.

During her 18 years at Legal Aid, Jodi galvanized Legal Aid’s Pro Bono Program to ensure that thousands of individuals and families, who would have otherwise gone without representation, had pro bono counsel. Indeed, Legal Aid’s robust Pro Bono Program is in large part due to Jodi’s leadership and commitment to providing legal help to those in need. In addition, Jodi also supervised Legal Aid’s Intake Program and Student Intern/Volunteer Programs.

Prior to joining Legal Aid in 2004, Jodi was a Staff Attorney and Pro Bono Coordinator with Whitman-Walker Health’s Legal Services Program in Washington, D.C. She initially became involved with Whitman-Walker Health while she was an Associate at the law firm of Wiley Rein LLP. During her tenure at Wiley Rein, Jodi was an active volunteer attorney with Whitman-Walker, representing clients appealing denials of Social Security disability benefits.

Legal Aid is proud of Jodi’s accomplishments and confident that she will have an impact on the way we as a city promote pro bono work and improve access to justice for our client community.

Congratulations Jodi! Legal Aid looks forward to working with you in your new capacity.
