Legal Aid DC launched the 2024 Making Justice Real Campaign on June 17, kicking off six weeks of fundraising from attorneys and law firm staff who come together to support Legal Aid’s work. This year’s campaign is aiming to raise a record $3.8 million.

The Making Justice Real campaign is now in its 35th year and has raised a total of $32 million for Legal Aid DC. Donations to the campaign make up nearly one-third of Legal Aid’s budget and help us reach thousands of D.C. residents each year with legal representation, advice, education, and community outreach.

Kecia Reynolds and Carson Sullivan from Paul Hastings are serving as this year’s honorary co-chairs for the campaign. About 80 law firms are expected to participate this year, with fundraising driven by coordinators at each firm who rally their colleagues around the campaign.

Throughout the summer, participating law firms will host events, organize incentives like donation matches, and try to out-raise other firms in a friendly competition. The campaign runs through July 26.
