Community Engagement

The Community Engagement team works to expand the accessibility of legal services, provide community legal education, and ensure that all of Legal Aid’s work is informed by the needs of the communities it serves. As part of this work, the Community Lawyering team staffs our Community Office in Anacostia at the Big Chair, as well as other satellite intake sites including libraries, farmers markets, and schools. Additionally, the team works with the Community Advisory Council, former clients who meet with Legal Aid quarterly to share their ideas and develop clear and effective plans to organize and advocate for the court and government to better meet the needs of the community.
