Ashley Close is a Staff Attorney in the Housing Law Unit. She represents low-income tenants in eviction and housing condition cases before the DC Superior Court. Prior to joining Legal Aid DC, Ashley worked as a Senior Staff Attorney with Children’s Law Center’s Medical Legal Partnership with Children’s National. Through this role, Ashley represented DC families in housing, special education, and public benefits matters. She also clerked for the Hon. Judge Claude M. Hilton of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
During law school, Ashley represented veterans through George Mason’s Veterans and Service Members (M-VETS) clinic. She also served as an intern with Legal Aid DC, the Federal Public Defender for the Eastern District of Virginia, Arlington County Public Defender’s Office, and the US Attorney’s Office in DC. Prior to law school, Ashley worked on Capitol Hill for three years.
