Prior to joining Legal Aid DC, Alyssa worked as a Federal Public Defender for the Southern District of Texas. During her time as a Federal Public Defender, she represented indigent clients in criminal matters. During Law School, Alyssa gained a tremendous amount of experience. She worked for the ACLU of Arizona where she got to help with Racial Inequity & Inequality issues and City of Phoenix Public Defender where she got to work in the Mental Health Court.

Alyssa graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.A. in Sociology and Minor in Psychology, with a focus in gender and crime. She then went on to get her J.D. from Arizona State University College of Law.
