Ashlei Schulz

Ashlei Schulz is a Supervising Attorney with Housing Law Unit. She represents low-income tenants in eviction and housing conditions cases before the D.C. Superior Court. She also litigates housing law claims before administrative bodies, such as the D.C. Housing Authority and the Office of Administrative Hearings.
Prior to joining Legal Aid DC in April 2019, Ashlei worked for the Homeless Action Center in Oakland, California where she represented public benefit recipients in matters including Social Security disability, including appeals in US District Court. Prior to that position, she launched a mediation franchise in Berkeley, California to assist families with dissolution of marriage proceedings. Ashlei began her legal career at a D.C. boutique law firm where she represented civil litigants in mass torts, wills and trusts, and contractual matters.
Ashlei graduated from Fordham Law School, where she was a Notes & Articles Editor for the Fordham Environmental Law Review, and earned a BS in Marketing from University of Maryland at College Park. While in law school, Ashlei interned at Black Entertainment Television and was a Kellogg Law Fellow with the NAACP.
