Sylvia Davenport is a Senior Community Lawyer with the Systemic Advocacy & Law Reform Unit. She is a graduate of Appalachian School of Law, where she earned a J.D. and J.M. After graduating law school, Sylvia began her legal career as an Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps VISTA Legal Fellow with Maryland Legal Aid, where she engaged in community outreach, community engagement, and advocacy with tenants of Project-Based Section 8, Rental Assistance Demonstration properties. Following her fellowship, Sylvia continued to advocate for low-income tenants in Maryland by working as a staff attorney with Community Legal Services of Prince George’s County and Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland. Prior to law school, Sylvia earned her MBA, with a concentration in Organizational Leadership, from Wilmington University. Additionally, Sylvia earned her M.Sc. in Management from Catholic University of America, and her B.S. in Business Administration from Stevenson University.
As a result of her professional and volunteer work within organizations in Maryland and Delaware, Sylvia has garnered extensive community outreach and engagement experience. She occasionally has provided education on the best practices an organization can take to increase their community outreach and engagement.
